The 2-D graphical style is typical of other casual RPGs and classics like the early Final Fantasy games. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say it could end very, very badly for humankind. The story revolves around Mel, a young orphaned thief whose life changes forever when she discovers she's at the center of an evil prophecy and is being hunted by a ruthless vampire lord. Other than the length (and let's face it, 10 hours is still pretty darned impressive - especially by casual game standards) and the fact that a couple of quests carry over into the next game, Lord of Twilight is the same kind of game that Aveyond fans have come to know and love. The first such episode is Aveyond: Lord of Twilight.
Shortly before the release of the title everyone was calling Aveyond 3, developer Amaranth Games announced a change of strategy: Instead of the latest game in the Aveyond series being a sprawling 50-hour role-playing adventure like its two predecessors, it would instead be released as several smaller 'episodes' offering about 10 hours of playtime each. Not as much depth as the first two games. World map isn't terribly helpful for navigation. Lord of Twilight is part 1 of the Orbs of Magic series. Traverse a vast, snowy wilderness, rugged mountain ranges, and get a glimpse into the Underworld on your adventure. Gather a colorful group of companions and set out together on a quest to thwart his plans. Race from an evil vampire lord, intent on plunging the world into darkness and enslaving humanity. Lord of Twilight is packed with monsters, magic, and humor.
Solve dozens of adventure puzzles and explore an enchanting world. Two hundred years later, young Mel, a common street thief, is about to have her life turned upside down, as another stands determined to succeed where Darkthrop failed, and to see the prophecy to its fulfillment. Darkthrop’s reign of tyranny and his lineage ended abruptly, when he and his only son died moments before his goal was realized. In fulfillment of prophecy, the evil sorcerer, Mordred Darkthrop, initiated a series of actions that would eventually see him rule the world.
